Junior Jocelyn Weidner led the attack with two goals and an assist. Amber Cook got ODU on the board when she headed in a corner kick from Rachael Carroll. The goal was the first of her career. After VMI scored to make the score 2-1, Kirstin Walker got a pass from Weidner and fired a shot past the VMI keeper to give ODU a two-goal cushion.
With an assist in the win over VMI, Victoria Johnson pulled into sole possession of fifth place on ODU's all-time list. The Norfolk native has 14 in her career.
Sophomore goalkeeper Brianna Alvarado has been solid in the first two games. She has made three saves on the year, but countless others by cutting off an attack. The sophomore picked up her seventh career shutout in the tie against Syracuse and her seventh career win in the triumph over VMI.
