Monarchs Host Barton In Final Exhibition Monday Night

NORFOLK, VA-- The ODU Monarchs host Barton College Monday night in the final exhibition game before starting the season with the Cox Classic, Nov.10-12. Barton was 28-4 last year and advanced to the NCAA Div. II Elite Eight.

The Bulldogs from Wilson, NC return four starters from last year's squad. Alejo Barovero, a 6-7 forward averaged 16.1 points and 5.6 rebounds per game and was the East Regional MVP. Anthony Atkinson,a 5-10 guard averaged 18.4 points and 2.6 steals last season.

Barton lost to CAA rival William and Mary on Nov. 1, 85-73. Barovero scored 17 points in that game.

ODU opened its exhibition season with a 90-74 win over Virginia State of the CIAA. Arnaud Dahi led the Monarchs with 20 points and four rebounds, while Drew Williamson, Brandon Johnson and Abdi Lidonde each scored 16 points.

ODU shot .619 from the floor, but the Monarchs committed 22 turnovers to the Trojans 14.
