Srugo Defeats Nation's Fifth Ranked Men's Tennis Player At ITA Indoors

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Sophomore Harel Srugo (Kibutz Gazit, Israel) advanced to the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Tournament's quarterfinals on Friday as he defeated the nation's fifth-ranked player in Travis Helgeson of Georgia, 6-3, 6-2.

The win marks the highest ranked player to fall to Srugo and the seventh win over a ranked opponent this fall. Last season Srugo picked up five ranked victories with his biggest victory coming against then-No. 15 Arnaud Lecloerec in the CAA Tournament finals.

Srugo's quarterfinal match-up will be against the nation's top-ranked player in Bejamin Kohlloeffel of UCLA.

In consolation action, senior Henrique Cancado (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) will take on No. 36 Alex Skrypko of Southern Methodist in the first round.
