NORFOLK, VA -- The ODU wrestling team travels to Cedar Rapids, Iowa this weekend to face two quality wrestling programs. Both the University of Northern Iowa (3-8/2-0) and Northern Illinois University (3-3/2-1) have received votes in multiple polls this season. Old Dominion boasts a 10-4 record and a 5-1 record in the Colonial Athletic Association. Three of the four ODU losses have been to ranked opponents.

All eight of UNI's losses have come to ranked opponents and NIU is coming off a 22-12 loss to (21) Kent State University. The Monarchs have faced Kent State twice this season and were defeated by similar margins. Old Dominion will have been off the competition mats for over two weeks when they face NIU at noon on Sunday.

University of Northern Iowa
Northern Iowa has received votes in Intermat's Top 25 in all but three rankings. They boast the current number five wrestler at 165 lbs. and the ninth ranked wrestler at 141 lbs. The Panthers also have the 18th best 157-pounder in Moza Fay. UNI has endured a difficult schedule to a 3-8 record so far this season.

Northern Illinois University
NIU also has received votes in the national rankings this season as they boast four top twenty wrestlers currently. Ranked individuals include the eighth best 149-pounder in senior Mike Grimes and the ninth best 165-pounder in Johnny Galloway.
The Huskies have six wrestlers with over 20 wins this season as they have a 3-3 record including a loss to (22) Kent State.

Pullin' for Pullano
Nick Pullano has been on fire in dual competition this season, going a perfect 14-0 in the Monarch duals. This Sunday, Pullano will have the toughest test of his 2006-07 season as he matches up against the 5th and 9th ranked 165-pounders in the nation. UNI will wrestle Nick Baima, who boasts a 139-39 career record including 25 wins this season. NIU will wrestle Johnny Galloway, who is 23-11 this season and 4-1 in duals.
Pullano has a winning percentage of 75% going 21-7 this season and is the team-leader in technical falls with seven. The junior, with Staylor, is one of just two veterans in the Monarch starting lineup.

What's Left?

The Monarchs return home for back-to-back matches at The Ted Constant Convocation Center.

The match against Virginia Tech, on February 8th, will mark the first-ever wrestling match held in The Ted. The wrestling team will celebrate by honoring the All-Time Wrestling Squad during the dual. It will also be streamed live on the internet via the ODU website.

After the Tech dual, the Monarchs will face American at home, once again in The Ted, on February 11th.

ODU will close out the season with an extremely tough road trip to Missouri, as they will face off against the number two team in the country.
