RICHMOND, Va. (March 3, 2011) - Old Dominion's Frank Hassell and Kent Bazemore were named to the Colonial Athletic Association's All-Conference squad and Trian Iliadis earned All-Academic honors.

Hassell was named first team All-CAA, Bazemore second team and the CAA's Defensive Player of the Year. Hassell joined Bazemore on the League's All-Defensive squad. The voting was done by the League's head coaches, sports information directors and members of the media.

Bazemore is the second Old Dominion player to receive CAA Defensive Player of the Year accolades (Brandon Johnson '08). The junior guard leads the CAA and ranks 16th in the nation with 2.4 steals per game. His 71 total steals are the 10th-highest season total in conference history. Bazemore had three or more thefts in a game 11 times this season, including six against UNCW on Jan. 24. He also contributed 5.1 rebounds per contest for a Monarchs' squad that ranks third in the nation in scoring defense (58.0 ppg).

Hassell received All-CAA accolades for the first time in his career. The senior forward had a breakout season, ranking second in the conference in rebounding (9.8 rpg), third in field goal percentage (54.2%), sixth in blocked shots (1.4 bpg) and 13th in scoring (14.2 ppg). He grabbed 10 or more rebounds in a league-best 17 contests and recorded 14 double-doubles, including 11 of them in the Monarchs' final 14 contests. Long stepped up to the All-CAA first team as a senior after making the second team a year ago and the third team in 2009.

Iliadis carries a 3.77 grade point average in biochemistry. The 6-3 junior from Perth, Western Australia is averaging 6.0 points per game and leads the Monarchs with 37 treys and a .343 percentage. He scored 15 points in ODU's win over Dayton as well as 14 against Maryland-Eastern Shore, and 12 In the victory over Atlantic 10 regular season champion Xavier. Last year, Iliadis was presented the CRC Press Chemistry Achievement award which is given to a chemistry or bio-chemistry major with the Highest GPA.

Hofstra senior guard Charles Jenkins (Queens, N.Y./Springfield Gardens) was selected as the Colonial Athletic Association men's basketball Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.

Also receiving top honors were George Mason's Jim Larranaga as the CAA Coach of the Year, Delaware freshman guard Devon Saddler (Aberdeen, Md./Aberdeen) as the CAA Rookie of the Year, Old Dominion junior guard Kent Bazemore (Kelford, N.C./Bertie) as the CAA Defensive Player of the Year and William and Mary junior Quinn McDowell (Mason, Ohio/Archbishop Moeller) as the recipient of the Dean Ehlers Leadership Award.
