Alex Loughton Scores 18 in Blue-White Game

NORFOLK, VA - Junior Forward/Center Alex Loughton (Perth, Australia), Sophomore Forward Valdas Vasylius (Klaipeda, Lithuania) and Senior Guard Kiah Thomas (Norfolk, VA/Granby) all scored double-digit points to lead their respective teams Thursday night in the Old Dominion men's basketball Blue-White game. Loughton had a game-high 18 points, off 7-of-10 shooting. He also grabbed seven rebounds. The Blue team took the first half 67-61, while the White team won the second half 61-55. Both teams started with 34 points at the start of each half.
Valdas Vasylius shot 5-for-6 from the floor for 12 points, while Kiah Thomas was a perfect 4-for-4 from the field, connecting on two three-pointers, to end up with 10 points for the night. Junior Center Janko Mrksic (Ontario, Canada) grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds and added four points for the White team.
In his first action as a Monarch, 7-3 Center Sam Harris (Newnham, Tazmania, Australia) went 1-2 from the field for two points and grabbed two rebounds. Also seeing their first action were freshmen guard Brian Henderson (Richmond, VA), who had six points, guard Brandon Johnson (Orlando, FL), who had eight points and two rebounds, and forward Jason Thompson (Sanford, NC), who was 4-6 from the field for eight points.
ODU hosts Elizabeth City State on Tuesday night, November 7, in their first exhibition game of the season. Game time is at 7:00.
