Lady Monarch Sailors Finish Seventh At ICYRA Nationals

ST. MARY'S, MD (May 30) - Old Dominion's women's sailing team finished in seventh-place at the 2000 ICYRA Women's Nationals at St. Mary's College May 30. Sally Barkow (Nashotah, WI), Corrie Clement (Metarie, LA) and Alison Calderbank (Clearwater, FL) finished in seventh-place in A Division, while Kate Chechak (Rochester, NY) and Emily Ruiter (Freehold, NJ) finished sixth in B Division.
Barkow, a sophomore skipper, was injured in the first six races and was forced to retire from competition. Clement, only a freshman, skippered the Lady Monarchs for the final 12 races.
Dartmouth won the event with 157 points, followed by Tufts (174), Boston (182), Harvard (229) and Southern Cal (238). The Lady Monarchs finished with 252 points.
