Women's Tennis Returns To Action With 4-3 Victory Over UNC Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Old Dominion women's tennis team returned to action for the first time in 20 days to pick up an 4-3 victory over UNC Greensboro on Friday afternoon. The victory upped the Lady Monarchs' overall record to 7-7 on the season.

The Lady Monarchs capatured the doubles points with victories at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. Junior Kerstin Endlich (Neustadt, Germany) and sophomore Fernanda Luiz (Nova Lima, Brazil) teamed for an 8-6 win over the Spartan's Sophie Rychlik and Kate LaCoste at the top doubles spot while freshman Barbara Costa (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) and sophomore Barbara Kerner (Herxheim, Germany)played their way to an 8-5 win over Emily Wade and Whitney Miles at No. 2 doubles.

Old Dominion and UNC Greensboro spilt the singles matches with each team taking three wins. ODU's Kerstin Endlich earned a straight set, 7-5, 6-2 decision over Whitney Miles at No. 1 singles. Barbara Costa defeated Erica Zabkar after dropping the first set, 4-6, to win the next two, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 3 doubles. Barbara Kerner rounded out the Lady Monarch singles play with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over Sophie Rychlik at the fifth position.

The Lady Monarchs return to action on Saturday at #33 Wake Forest.
