ST. MARY'S, Md. - The Old Dominion University co-ed sailing team earned a spot at the ICSA National Championship Semifinals after finishing fifth in an 18-team field at the America Trophy Regatta, which concluded Sunday. The semifinals will take place April 30-May 1 in Long Beach, Calif.

The Monarchs finished fifth in both divisions of racing, with senior skipper Stephanie Roble guiding the A-Division boat and sophomore skipper Dillon Paiva leading ODU in B-Division racing.

Roble sailed 14 races with junior Miles Martschink and four races with junior Emily Reich. The trio combined for six Top 5 results and a win in the 10th race.

Paiva competed with freshman Brady Stagg in 15 races and freshman Julia Wiesner for three. ODU posted six Top 5 B-Division finishes, including wins in both the fifth and 14th races.

Georgetown won the America's Trophy, while St. Mary's, Navy, Hobart and William Smith, SUNY Maritime, Cornell and Washington College also qualified for the national semifinal.

The Old Dominion women's team was also in action this weekend as the Lady Monarchs finished ninth in an 18-team field at the Emily Wick/Sloop Shrew at Coast Guard.

Senior Morgan Wilson teamed up with junior Jordan Stock for all but one race as ODU claimed eighth in the A-Division. Freshman Corina Radtke sailed with sophomore's Jessica Milligan and Arianna Baker for a 10th-place result in the B-Division.

The sailing team will be back in action next weekend at the Admirals Cup in Kings Point, N.Y. and at the MAISA Women's at St. Mary's Md.
