Howard Named CAA Co-Player Of The Week

NORFOLK, VA -- Senior point guard Okeisha Howard (Va. Bech, VA) was named the CAA Co-Player of the Week for the week ending February 23 it was announced late Monday evening by the conference office.
Howard led the Lady Monarchs to back-to-back home wins as Old Dominion swept the season series with Drexel and George Mason last week. In a 71-57 victory over Drexel, Howard recorded her first career double-double with 22 and a career-high 11 assists. Her 11 assists were the most by any Lady Monarch this season and her 22 point performance marked her fourth 20 + point scoring effort of the season.
She followed with a 19-point, six assist effort in a 70-60 win over George Mason on Sunday. Howard also shot 4-for-4 from beyond the arc in the victory.
On the week, the former Princess Anne High School star shot 50 percent from the field (14-of-28), averaging 20.5 points and 8.5 assists.
Howard currently leads the team averaging 15.0 points and 4.8 assists per game.
The Lady Monarchs close out the 2002-03 regular season home schedule against Towson and William and Mary this week. Old Dominion will host the Tigers on Thursday, February 27th at 7:00 p.m. On Sunday, March 2, the Lady Monarchs will host William and Mary at 3:00 p.m. The game will be broadcast on Comcast Sportsnet (Ch. 35). Sunday's game against the Tribe will also be senior day with Howard , Kim Giddens, and manager Jessica Bowman being honored.
