FAIRFAX, VA (Feb. 24) - The 2000 CAA Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Championships got underway with the preliminary rounds of the women's three-meter and men's one-meter dives. The men's and women's swimming competition began on February 24 with prelims in the 500 and 50 yard freestyles, along with the 200 IM.

Old Dominion appears to have the early edge in diving as senior Kevin Harrison (Bethpage, NY) and freshman Ashley Kirchner (Arlington, VA) sit atop the standings after 11 prelim dives. Harrison, the 1999 CAA Diver of the Year, will be looking to repeat at the men's champ in the one-meter, while Kirchner will be seeking to notch her first win in championship competition for the Lady Monarchs on the three-meter.
