Field Hockey Lands 13 on the Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA National Academic Team

NORFOLK, Va. - Thirteen members of the 2012 Old Dominion University Field Hockey team were named to the Gladiator by SGI / NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad on Tuesday.
The National Academic Squad recognizes those student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2012-13 academic year. Old Dominion was recognized as one of the top teams in the country academically on Monday with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Sophomore forward Philippine Cleton (Gouda, Netherlands), redshirt junior midfielder Danielle Clutter (Chambersburg, Pa.), freshman back Emily Harting (Lititz, Pa.), redshirt freshman goalkeeper Megan Hept (Chesapeake, Va.), senior back Julie Hodge (Downingtown, Pa.), freshman goalkeeper Friederike Jahns (Hamburg, Germany), freshman midfielder Celine Marquet (Mannheim, Germany), senior forward Kimberly Oakes (West Chester, Pa.), redshirt senior goalkeeper Marla Petriello (Harleysville, Pa.), sophomore back Kelsey Smither (Suffolk, Va.), senior forward Maartje van Rijswijk (Virginia Beach, Va.), sophomore midfielder Lydia Velzian (Hamilton, New Zealand) and redshirt freshman back Caitlin Walsh (Downingtown, Pa.) were all named to this year's squad.
Clutter, Hodge, Oakes and Petriello were all named to the squad for the fourth consecutive year for Old Dominion.
In addition, Jahns and Velzian were recognized as Scholars of Distinction for having achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.90 or higher through the first semester of the 2012-13 academic year.
