NORFOLK, VA (Dec. 6, 2000) -- The Old Dominion men's soccer team had two selections to the 2000 VaSID All-State Teams this afternoon. The awards are compiled from voting by the sports information directors at every major university in Virginia.

Junior midfielder Carlos Mendes (Mineola, NY) is making his debut on the All-State first team after winning a second team spot in '99. Mendes tallied four goals and six assists this season and was named to the All-CAA first team for the second year in a row.

Freshman forward Attila Vendegh (Bratislava, Slovakia) earned second team honors after leading the CAA in scoring with 15 goals and 3 assists for 33 points. Vendegh finished the season as the third highest scoring freshman in the country, fourth in South Atlantic Regional scoring, and was tied for 16th nationally in goals per game. Vendegh was also a first team All-CAA selection and was named the Rookie of the Year by the conference.
