Two ODU Wrestlers Best in the Conference This Week

NORFOLK, VA -- The Monarchs have been a steady presence among the Colonial Athletic Association's weekly awards this season and it didn't stop this week. Redshirt senior Christian Staylor and redshirt freshman Chris Brown were named Co-Wrestler of the Week and Co-Rookie of the Week. It was the third time this season Brown has earned the honor.
Staylor (Chesapeake, VA/Great Bridge) wrestled in the 133-lb weight class and won both of his bouts last week. He didn't give up a point against Virginia Tech in a 15-0 technical fall and he tallied 15 more points against American with a 15-4 major decision. The win over American's Jordan Lipp was the 75th of his career. He shares the award with Drexel's Ryan Hluschak.
Brown (Chesapeake, VA/Great Bridge) is a redshirt freshman wrestling in th 157-lb. weight class. He won a pair of major decisions (17-6, 17-7) and improved to 32-11 overall. He leads the conference in wins with 32 and leads the team in major decisions with thirteen. Brown shared the award with Brian Wright of Goerge Mason.
The Monarchs fly to Missouri for the teams final dual of the year on Wednesday. The conference tournament is scheduled for March 2-3 in Fairfax, VA at George Mason University.
