WZEZ-FM (EZ 100.5) Added to the ODU Radio Network
Aug. 29, 2012
RICHMOND, Va. -- In response to the rapid growth and expansion of the fan base and interest in Old Dominion University athletics, ODU fans in central Virginia can now follow all the live action for Monarch football and men's basketball this season with the addition of WZEZ-FM (EZ 100.5) to the ODU radio network.
"As our fan base continues to grow outside the Hampton Roads market, our Richmond fans in particular have been asking for the expansion of our radio coverage signal into that market and we are delighted that EZ 100.5 will be joining the Monarch family," says ODU athletic director Dr. Wood Selig. "Special thanks also goes to Barry Kornblau, a loyal Richmond alumnus and ODU benefactor, for his financial support of this partnership."
The Richmond based station is owned by Chesapeake/Portsmouth Broadcasting and its signal can be heard throughout the Capitol City and north and west to Goochland and Louisa counties. The station will also carry the Bud Light Bobby Wilder Coach's Show every Thursday night from 7-8 p.m. during the season, along with Bud Light Blaine Taylor Coach's Show throughout the basketball season.
"The Old Dominion University Athletics program has always been one of the best in the region and with the addition of football, is now even better," says Paul Scott, station general manager. "We are excited about being Richmond's exclusive home for ODU Sports."
Football game day broadcasts begin one hour prior to kick-off with the pre-game show hosted by Ted Alexander, and include a 30-minute post-game show. Basketball game broadcasts begin 30 minutes prior to tip-off.
