Jacobs Named Second Team All-Region

NORFOLK, Va. -- Old Dominion sophomore midfielder Caroline Jacobs (Gaithersburg, Md.) was named Second Team All-South Region it was announced by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA).
Jacobs led the Lady Monarchs in four statistical categories including assists (18), points (45), groundballs (51), and caused turnovers (25) and ranked second on the squad in goals (27) and draw controls (21). She netted a career-high six goals against #9 North Carolina, scooped up a career-high six groundballs against #20 William & Mary and James Madison, and caused a career-high five turnovers against #20 William & Mary. Additionally the second-year midfielder captured a career-high seven points at Temple and netted the game-winning goal against Rutgers.
A First Team All-Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) pick and a CAA Player of the Week selection during the 2005 campaign, Jacobs currently ranks fourth nationally in groundballs per game at 3.64 per contest. Among the conference statistics, she concluded the season ranked 10th in goals per game (1.93), fourth in assists per game (1.29), seventh in points per game (3.21), third in caused turnovers per game (1.79), and topped the charts in groundballs.
Three regional committees selected thirty-two student-athletes in each of the regions (North, Mid-Atlantic, and South). All members of the All-Regional teams are eligible for All-American honors. The 2005 IWLCA/US Lacrosse All-American teams will be released on Sunday, May 22, in conjunction with the 2005 NCAA Championship game at the United States Naval Academy.
