Monarch Golfers Finish Third at CAA Championships

MANAKIN-SABOT, VA (April 16) -- Old Dominion's golf team fired a round 300 for the second day in a row to finish in third-place at the 2000 CAA Championships at Hermitage Country Club. The Monarchs, leaders after round one, were paced by sophomore Michael Hospodar (Ontario, Canada) who finished fourth at 216.

Overall, Old Dominion placed three golfers in the top-20 as sophomore Steve Sokol (Oxford, CT) finished in eighth-place at 219 after his third 73 in as many days, while CAA Rookie of the Year freshman Geoff Harris (Reading, England) finished 20th at 227. Senior Gary Harper (Sidmouth, England) finished 30th, while freshman Stephen Richards (Bucks, England) wound up 25th.

Virginia Commonwealth won the title at 873, followed by James Madison at 876, Old Dominion 887, Richmond at 888, East Carolina at 896 and UNC Wilmington at 902.
