The Old Dominion women's soccer team defeated Colonial Athletic Conference foe Drexel 4-1 on Sunday. Four different Lady Monarchs scored to give ODU(5-9-1/2-3-1) their second conference victory.
Heather Vaughan (Va. Beach, VA) got things going for the home team in the first half with a header from a long pass from Sarah Raible (Louisville, KY). Vaughan's goal tied the game at one after Drexel got a tally from Sandra Ackerman just seven minutes into the game. That would be all the scoring in the first period as the game went tied 1-1 into the half.
Ashley Kramer (Jefferson Hills, PA) netted what would be the game-winner at 62:18 with her team leading sixth goal of the year. Maura Linz (Prospect, KY) added an insurance score with a successful penalty kick and Meredith Worsley (Durham. NC) provided another goal off an assist from Raible.
Kristen Bailey (Hamilton, VA) stopped three shots and Stephanie Miller (Plymouth Meeting, PA) made two saves limiting the Dragons to the one goal. ODU held a 21-7 shot advantage and a 4-2 corner edge.
The Lady Monarchs travel to Delaware and Towson next weekend to continue their CAA schedule.
