12th Monarchs,

Your Monarch Football team took a 41 hour business trip to Savannah, Georgia and came home with a 38-17 victory. It was a "great day to be a Monarch".

We started fast in this game with our offense scoring on the opening drive for the sixth time in eight games this season. We went into half-time leading 17-0 based on a strong performance by all three units - Special Teams, Defense, and Offense. Our defense only allowed 66 yards on 22 plays in that first half in what was clearly our best half of defense this season. The 2nd half was much of the same and we were able to play our "back-up ones" for the entire 4th quarter.

I am proud of the way our team traveled and performed. Our team received many compliments for the first class manner in which they conducted themselves on and off the field. Winning on the road in never easy in college football. Our team philosophy is to always make a great presentation on and off the field and "good things will happen to good people".

This week we return to "our house" to take on the Hoyas of Georgetown. Your team is excited to see you as we always are. Taking the "Monarch March" from 43rd and Powhatan thru campus to Foreman Field from 340-400PM is an experience we always look forward to sharing with "Monarch Nation". Hearing you roar as we come out of the tunnel at 6 pm as a team is something our team talks about all the time.

We know you will be "loud and proud" again this week for your Old Dominion Monarch Football team !!!

Our team would like to ask you to bring canned goods to the game if you are able to do so. As the Honorary Chairman of the "Monarchs for Meals" drive this year, I am proud to assist the Food Bank of Southeastern Virginia. According to the Food Bank, the bad economy and high unemployment rates make food bank services in higher demand than ever. I hope you will find it in your heart to spare what you can. I know my family will.

We look forward to seeing you all Saturday Night at Foreman Field !!!

Aim High,

Coach Wilder
