RICHMOND, VA (April 13) - Old Dominion head golf coach Murray Rudisill was named CAA Coach of the Year for the second straight year, while freshman Geoff Harris (Reading, England) earned CAA Rookie of the Year honors as voted by the CAA coaches. Monarch sophomore Michael Hospodar (Ontario, Canada) earned first team All-CAA honors, while Harris and sophomore Steve Sokol (Oxford, CT) earned All-CAA second team nods.

Rudisill earns his fifth coaching honor in 25 years at the helm of the Old Dominion program, earning Sun Belt Coach of the Year honors twice, Virginia Coach of the Year once and CAA honors twice.

Hospodar, the 1999 CAA Rookie of the Year, moves up to the first team after securing second team honors last year. His finished with a 73.56 stroke average through 27 rounds of play, while securing five top-15 finishes in 11 events.

Sokol earns his first All-CAA mention after leading the Monarchs in three of their last four events. He recorded four top-16 finishes in six events during the spring and finished with a stroke average of 73.89.

Harris becomes the second straight Monarch to earn CAA Rookie of the Year honors after finishing the season with a 74.60 stroke average. The freshman recorded a career-best finish of 12th at Coastal Carolina earlier this season.

The Monarch golf team, ranked 49th in the nation by GolfStat, has finished eighth or better in nine of 11 events during the 1999-2000 season, including a trio of second-place performances at the William and Mary Invitational, Coastal Carolina Classic and ODU/Seascape Classic. The team returns to action this weekend in Manakin-Sabot, VA, at the CAA Tournament at Hermitage Country Club.
