April 25, 2007
RICHMOND, VA--Old Dominion University sophomore forward Jonathan Adams (Ringgold, GA.) is one of five student-athletes who excelled both athletically and academically and is a recipient of the CAA Scholar-Athlete Award for winter sports season. He is the CAA Scholar Athlete of the Year for Men's Basketball.
Adams was selected to the CAA men's basketball All-Academic first team in 2006-07 and is a two-time recipient of the CAA Commissioner's Academic Award. Majoring in Criminal justice and minoring in psychology, the Dean's List student represented ODU at the NCAA Leadership Conference last summer. On the court, Adams started 11 games and averaged 3.0 points and 3.4 rebounds per game for the Monarchs who compiled a 24-9 record and made their second NCAA appearance in the last three years.
The 6-6 sophomore scored 10 points in ODU's upset victory at BIG EAST champion and FINAL FOUR participant Georgetown earlier this year.
The conference honors one Scholar-Athlete in each of its 21 championship sports. Nominees for the award must be a starter or important reserve on their team and must meet the Academic All-America minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.20. The winners were selected by a vote of the sports information directors at each CAA Institution.
Joining Adams are James Madison senior Lesley Dickinson in women's basketball, Delaware junior Adam Blomberg in men's swimming and diving, UNC Wilmington Senior Melissa Milstead in women's swimming and diving and Drexel junior Ryan Hluchak in wrestling.
