Monarch Sailors Sixth In Day Two Of Nationals

KINGS POINT, NY. (June 6) - The Old Dominion University sailing Monarchs are in sixth place after 14 races at the ICYRA Collegiate Sailing National Championships hosted by the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

Old Dominion trails current leader St. Mary's (139), Hobart William Smith (143), Harvard (147), College of Charleston (148) and Southern California (150).

The Monarchs "A" boat skippered by Brad Funk (Harbors Bluffs, Fla.), with crew Elizabeth Biondi (Norwalk, CT.), and Dan Lawrence (West River, MD.) took fourth with 90 points. In seven races Tuesday they had three first places and two second place finishes.

The Monarchs "B" boat skippered by Ryan Dunn (Brick, NJ.), with crew Abigail Curran (Osterville, MA.), Heather Pescatello (Westerly, RI.) and Brock Callen. They placed seventh with 86 points thanks to three second places in seven races. The Championships conclude on Wednesday..
