Lady Monarchs in UNC-Greensboro Tournament This Weekend

NORFOLK, VA -The Old Dominion women's soccer team will travel to Greensboro, NC this weekend to take part in the UNC-Greensboro-hosted Adidas Classic.  The Lady Monarchs will face Coastal Carolina Friday at 5:00, and will take on Pittsburgh Sunday afternoon at 1:00.  ODU has a three-game unbeaten streak going into the tournament, and has a 2-1-1 overall record.


The Lady Monarchs will meet Coastal Carolina for the first time in school history Friday evening.  Coastal Carolina has a 2-3-0 record, suffering a 3-2 set-back at the hands of UNC-Wilmington Wednesday night.  They are led in scoring by Simone Borucinski, who has three points (1 goal, 1 assist).


ODU is 1-1 against Pittsburgh, dropping their last game against the Panthers, 3-2, in Pittsburgh in 1999.  ODU previously defeated Pittsburgh at home in 1998, by a score of 3-0.  The Panthers are 2-1-0 and are on a two-game winning streak, after defeating Duquesne September 3.


The Lady Monarchs are led in scoring by Junior Forward Laura Beeman (Chalfont, PA), who has four goals and an assist for nine points.  ODU is on their longest unbeaten streak since the 2000 season, after defeating Longwood and UMBC, and tying Campbell. 


ODU's next home game is Sunday, September 19, when they host Arkansas at 1:00.
