Sailing Hosts MAISA Women's Championships on Busy Weekend on the Water

NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion University sailing team will headline a busy weekend on the water by hosting the MAISA Women’s Dinghy Championship Regatta on the Elizabeth River.
The 16th-ranked coed sailing will be in action as well this weekend as they head to the Admiral’s Cup Race in Kings Point, N.Y. hosted by the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. ODU will also take part in the Thompson Trophy Race in New London, Conn. hosted by the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
The MAISA Women’s Championships feature 13 teams including the Lady Monarchs, Christopher Newport, Columbia, Cornell, No. 1 Georgetown, George Washington, Hampton, Hobart and William Smith, No. 8 Navy, St. Mary’s College (Md.), Pennsylvania, Washington College and William & Mary. The top two finishers get an automatic birth to ICSA Women’s National Championship in Austin, Texas on May 30 while teams that place third through seventh will earn bids to the ICSA Women’s National Championship Semifinals in Miami, Fla. on May 12.
