Field Hockey Slips To No. 12

NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion field hockey team landed at the No. 12 spot in the final STX/NFHCA Division I Coaches' Poll of the year released on Tuesday morning. The Lady Monarchs (13-7) await tonight's selection show to see if they receive one of the eight at-large bids to the NCAA Tournament.

North Carolina (20-1) moved into the top spot, followed by Maryland (15-5) jumping from No. 4 to No. 2. Wake Forest (16-3) fell to No .3, Duke (15-4) fell to No. 4, and Michigan (16-5) moved to No. 5.

Three other Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) schools appear in the final poll. CAA Champions, Delaware (15-6) moved up three spots in the poll to No. 14, while William & Mary fell to No. 15 with their semifinal loss in the tournament. Hofstra, who had upset the Tribe in the semifinals, received votes in the poll.

College Sports Television (www.collegesports.com) will present the NCAA Field Hockey Championship Selection Show on Tuesday, November 9th at 7:00 p.m. (EST) live from the CSTV Fieldhouse in New York. The CSTV selection show will also be streamed live online at Collegesports.com.

College Sports TV's live selection show, hosted by Adam Zucker, will feature the official announcement of the 16-team NCAA Field Hockey Championship field. Zuker and special guests to the show will analyze the brackets, preview first-round games and call out the players, teams, and prospective games to watch. The NCAA first and scond rounds are schedule for Nov. 13-14 at campus sites, while the championships are schedule for Nov. 19-21 at Kentner Stadium on the campus of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C.
