No. 23 ODU Concludes Regular Season at No. 19 Binghamton and at No. 21 Virginia

NORFOLK, Va. - The No. 23 Old Dominion University Wrestling team concludes their regular season this weekend with a trip to No. 19 Binghamton on Friday evening at 7 p.m. to wrap up CAA action before heading to No. 21 Virginia on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.

The Monarchs (13-8, 3-2) are ranked No. 23 for the second consecutive week in the NCWA/USA Today Division I Team Coaches Poll and have now been ranked for five consecutive weeks. ODU is coming off a thrashing of North Carolina State at home on Senior Night on Feb. 9 in which nine Monarchs claimed victories in the 34-3 win.

Led by No. 13 Te Edwards (174), ODU has five ranked wrestlers in the most recent NCAA Coaches' Panel Rankings. No. 21 Tristan Warner (165), No. 23 John Nicholson (157), No. 26 Justin LaValle (141) and No. 29 Jerome Robinson (125) are also ranked for ODU. Robinson won CAA Rookie of the Week honors on Tuesday as ODU has now earned Wrestler or Rookie of the Week in the CAA for five consecutive weeks.

No. 19 Binghamton (14-4, 5-0) is coming off a thrilling 24-12 win at No. 24 Hofstra last weekend. Three of the Bearcats' four losses this season have all come at the hands of teams currently ranked in the top 15. Led by No. 4 Donnie Vinson, who is 29-4 at 149 pounds, Binghamton has six wrestlers ranked in the most recent NCAA Coaches' Panel Rankings. ODU leads the all-time series, 3-2-1, as the two teams have gone 1-1-1 against one another in the last three seasons.

No. 21 Virginia (9-1) has not lost a dual since late November and is coming off a 29-12 win at Appalachian State last weekend. The Cavaliers have six wrestlers ranked in the latest NCAA Coaches' Panel Rankings, led by No. 7 Nick Nelson at 141, who is 21-2 on the season. UVA holds the narrow advantage in the all-time series, 22-19. The two teams have split the last four meetings with the Cavaliers winning the last two meetings.
