Los Angeles, Calif. (October 3, 2004) -- Junior Kerstin Endlich (Neustadt, Germany) and sophomore Fernanda Luiz (Nova Lima, Brazil) had their run at the 2004 at the 2004 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships halted in the prequalifying brackets. The tournament is held on the campus of UCLA.

Endlich dropped a 6-3, 6-7 (6), 6-2 decision to Daniela Novakova of Texas-Arlington in the opening round. Luiz captured a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Sandra Rocha of Long Beach State in her opening round match-up. Luiz's run however came to a halt in the second round with a 6-2, 6-1 loss to Georgia Tech's Dasha Potapova.

Endlich and Luiz will team up for the prequalifying doubles bracket. The duo, who received a first round bye, will begin play on Monday in the second round against Pepperdine's Dikes and Dulgheru.

The Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships include 128-singles player and 64-doubles team prequalifying tournaments played October 2-4 at UCLA. These feed into 64-player and 32-doubles team qualifying tournaments October 5-6. The 32-player, 16-doubles team main draw takes place Oct. 7-10. Over 60 schools from across the country have sent players to compete. The Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships is the first of three national collegiate tennis championships this season.
