Men's Tennis Blanks Fourth Straight Opponent

NORFOLK, VA -- The Old Dominion University men's tennis team improved its overall record to 4-0 as they defeated Hampton Roads rival Norfolk State late last night, 7-0. Old Dominion has shutout each of its four opponents to date this season.
Juniors Zoltan Csanadi (Timisoara, Romania) and Calin Milos (Timisoara, Romania), senior Salman Mohammed (Calcutta, India), and sophomore Izak van der Merwe (Kempton Park, South Africa) each recorded straight set wins. At first singles, Csanadi defeated Daniel Prokes, 6-1, 6-1, while van der Merwe posted a 6-3, 6-3 victory at second singles. Milos used a 6-2, 6-2 match to down Kaumba Sakovovi at the third position. Junior Niklas Oskarsson (Halmstad, Sweden) only played one set at sixth singles, a 7-6 decision, before the match was retired. Senior Patrik Binkowski (Orby, Sweden) used a three set 6-1, 1-6, 6-4 match to registered a win at fourth singles.
All three doubles teams recorded victories. The fourth ranked duo of Csanadi and Milos captured a 8-2 decision at first doubles over Norfolk State's Sakavovi and Juricka. Milos and Binkowski teamed for an 8-4 win over Prokes and Novak. Mohammed and Oskarsson finished up doubles play with an 8-6 win over Jakoubek and Dusek.
The men's tennis team will return to action against ACC opponent #23 Wake Forest on February 1st in Winston Salem, NC.
