Monarchs Fall to East Carolina in Final Seconds, 62-60

    NORFOLK, Va. (AP) (February 16, 2000) -- Ricardo Marsh and Andre McCullum had 16 and 15 points respectively for Old Dominion, but Old Dominion fell to East Carolina in the final seconds 62-60 in Norfolk on Feb. 16.

    Brandon Hawkins fired a 3-pointer with two seconds on the clock Feb. 16 to preserve East Carolina's 62-60 comeback victory.

    The Pirates (10-14, 5-8 Colonial Athletic Association) trailed 30-29 at halftime but rallied after the break to lead by as much as 11 with 9:37 to play.

    From there, it was the Monarchs (11-16, 6-8) who rallied, outscoring the Pirates 21-9 into the final minute of play.

    With 1:39 on the clock, the Pirates led by four, 59-55. But Ricardo Marsh hit a 3-pointer and following layup to give Old Dominion a 60-59 lead with 11 second to play before Hawkins finished out the scoring.

    Hawkins led East Carolina with 13 points.

    Marsh scored 16 points for Old Dominion, and Andre McCullum added 15.
