Lady Monarchs Advance to CAA Finals

HARRISONBURG, VA. (Nov. 5) - Junior Marina DiGiacomo (Mendoza, Argentina) scored a career high and CAA Tournament record five goals to lead seventh ranked Old Dominion (15-6) to a 6-0 CAA semi-final win over Richmond Saturday afternoon. The Lady Monarchs will meet ninth ranked James Madison, a 4-0 winner over William and Mary, Sunday at 1 p.m.

The three-time CAA Player of the Year scored four goals in the first half, two on penalty strokes, then added another in the second. Her first and last goals came on assists from Ashleigh Miller (W.Vancouver, Canada) and Adrienne Yoder (Coopersburg Pa.). Senior All-CAA performer Kim Miller (Va. Beach, Va.) added the Lady Monarchs other goal in the first half. Freshman goaltender Mary Beth Freeman (Holland, PA.) came up with her seventh shutout of the year.

Old Dominion outshot Richmond, 29-1 on the day. The Lady Monarchs will be playing in their ninth straight CAA Finals, having won seven.
