No. 31 NC State Upends Monarchs In Men's Tennis

Norfolk, Va. - Facing their second ACC opponent of the weekend, the 39th ranked Monarchs of Old Dominion fell to the Wolfpack of North Carolina State 5-2 in men's tennis action Sunday morning at the Folkes-Stevens Indoor Tennis Center.

NC State secured the doubles point by winning at No. 1 and No. 2, however ODU did win at No. 3 where Matt Fawcett and Timo Gehrke defeated the Wolfpack team of Derek Stephens and David Chermak.

In singles action the Monarchs managed wins at No. 1 and No. 4, but fell in the remainder of the matches. Alex Seleznev defeated James McGee 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 at No. 1 and Rodrigo Souza won in straight sets over Derek Stephens at No. 4, 6-4, 6-2.

2. McGee/Welte (NCSU) def. Souza/Fanselow (ODU) 8-4

2. Jay Weinacker (NCSU) def. Eidy Igarashi (ODU) 7-6(4), 6-3

4. Rodrigo Souza (ODU) def. Derek Stephens (NCSU) 6-4, 6-2

5. Christian Welte (NCSU) def. Matt Fawcett (ODU) 6-3, 6-1

6. David Chermak (NCSU) def. Yakov Diskin (ODU) 6-2, 6-4
