PRESEASON PRACTICE UPDATE: Basic Training
Aug. 24, 2010
NORFOLK, Va. -- After installing more of the package yesterday, it was back to the basics for Tuesday morning's preseason practice.
"We spent most of our time in individuals, players working on individual techniques with their position coaches," said head coach Bobby Wilder. "Its something we like to do every two or three practices, particularly when we've done a lot of install on both sides of the ball. Our guys have a lot they are thinking about and we make sure we get back to the basics and fundamentals."
While much of the morning's practice was spent in drills with the position coaches, the Monarchs did one team segment where they spent time driving down the field. The offense started back up and worked their way down into the redzone...or as you may hear it called on game day, the Pepsi Blue Zone.
"That's to teach our players different field zones, different areas of the field, along with different down and distance," said Wilder of the drill.
"I feel like we got a lot accomplished and we continue to work to get as many guys back healthy as we can," he noted.
