Fall ODU Wrestling Clinic Set For Nov. 9

NORFOLK, VA. - The 2002 Old Dominion University Fall Wrestling clinic featuring special guest T.J. Jaworsky is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 9th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.in the wrestling room which is located in the health and physical education building.. ODU head coach E.Gray Simons and assistant coach Joe Baranik will also serve as featured clinicians.

Jawarsky, a three-time NCAA Champion while at the University of North Carolina is in his second year as head coach at Davidson. In 1995, he was voted the "Outstanding Wrestler" of the 1995 NCAA Championships. Jaworsky is also a four-time USA National team member.

Simons is the only coach to have coached four NCAA finalists at three different universities, with three of them winning national championships. In Dec. of 2000 Sports Illustrated named him one of the top 50 athletes in Virginia this century and Amateur Wrestling News named him best college wrestler at his weight of all time. The Loch Haven University and Granby High School graduate is a seven time collegiate National Champion and six- time collegiate Outstanding wrestler. He was also a member of the 1960 and 1964 U.S. Olympic team.

Baranik has served as an assistant coach at Slippery Rock, the University of Virginia and ODU. He has 13 years of high school coaching experience where he has tutored numerous district, regional champions, and three state finalists and a state champion from Pennsylvania.
