TRIAD, NC.-- Former ODU guard Marsharee Neely (2010) is one of 15 players chosen for this year's Carolina Cheetahs squad for the upcoming American Basketball Association season.

Neely helped lead the Monarchs to the 2010 CAA title and a first round NCAA win over Notre Dame. Marsharee scored 588 career points at ODU, including a career high 20 points against Missouri and eighth rebounds against VCU in the CAA semi-finals of 2010. In 2009, Neely was named to the College Basketball Insider.com (CIT) All- Tournament squad as ODU captured that post title with a win at Bradley. The Greensboro, NC.native averaged 10.p ppg and 4.8 rpg in that tournament. Neely graduated with a degree in recreational management.

Besides Neely, the team consists of some of this area's finest up and coming players. The Cheetahs have gathered some of the most athletic, exciting talent this area has seen. From Division I Appalachian State's Kellen Brand, and Jeremy Clayton, High Point University's Landon Quick and NCA&T's Robert Johnson, JCSU's Ryan Scott, who is the son of NBA legend Dennis Scott "3D". Professional players Damien Goodman, Terrance Jones, and Quenton Goods, improve the Triad's professional basketball team. The Cheetahs roster consist of highly touted professional players that have completed college and had experience playing at the next level. Due to the NBA lockout, many of our players are on the verge of signing Professional European basketball contracts but will keep improving under the philosophy of Wells.

The Cheetahs are coached by Tim Wells, former NC State player and Winston-Salem State assistant basketball coach. Tim was employed last season as Head Coach at KK Triland, a professional basketball team in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Wells led the Triland team to an undefeated regular season record (10-0). With a record of (14-1), Wells was named League "Coach of the Year" after coming back to the triad area with the Championship.

"I love the versatility and athleticism of this team. It's no secret the ABA has allowed some very interesting rules and we are going to capitalize on them," said Coach Wells, "Our goal is to have a (200) point game. With our depth and talent we will be able to accomplish this goal. This is going to be the most fun and excitement people have seen in a while in Professional Basketball!" Wells said he couldn't be happier with the final roster heading into the Cheetahs season opener on November 19th at UNC-Greensboro's Fleming Gymnasium with the Lynchburg Legends from VA. Game starts at 7:30pm and tickets are available online for all home games at www.carolinacheetahs.com via Event Bright. Connect with our website for team news, photos, players, and game schedules.
