NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion football team has its first Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) schedule ready for the 2011 season, as the Monarchs make the jump to the nation's top FCS conference.

The 2011 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Football schedule was approved by the league's athletic directors last week during their annual meetings. The CAA will expand to 11 members when the Monarchs join the conference with Georgia State joining the league in 2012.

"We are excited to start play in the best FCS conference in the country in 2011," said ODU head football coach Bobby Wilder about the schedule. "Our 12th Monarchs will witness the best teams in the country at Foreman Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium. With 2011 being our third season as a program, we know this will be a tremendous challenge for our team. We look forward to joining the CAA."

Old Dominion will be on the road for its first CAA conference contest, traveling to the University of Delaware to face the Fightin' Blue Hen on Sept. 24th.

Massachusetts will be the first of four conference contests for the Monarchs at Foreman Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium on Oct. 1st. Old Dominion will also welcome Towson (Oct. 15), James Madison (Oct. 29), and Richmond (Nov. 5).

Other roads contests for the Monarchs include Rhode Island (Oct. 8), Villanova (Oct. 22), and William & Mary (Nov. 12).

Please note, the 2011 CAA football schedule is subject to change.

In just three seasons CAA Football has transformed itself into one of the most successful collegiate football conferences in the country. The quality and depth of CAA Football is unmatched in the FCS as the league has earned 71 total playoff berths, including 33 in the last 10 seasons. The 2009 CAA Football season saw Villanova earn its first-ever National Championship, following a 2008 season which included Richmond's first National Championship. The league's inaugural season in 2007, after adopting what was the Atlantic 10 Football Conference and one-time Yankee Conference, saw seven National Top-25 squads, multiple FBS/BCS wins and a record number of five NCAA postseason berths.
