Jacobs Named Second Team All-South Region

NORFOLK, Va. -- Old Dominion junior midfield Caroline Jacobs (Gaithersburg, Md.) was named Second Team All-South Region it was announced Thursday by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA).
For the second straight season Jacobs led the Lady Monarchs in scoring. In 2006, she accumulated 51 points stemming from 33 goals and 18 assists, while posting seven hat tricks. Jacobs captured a season-high four goals in contests against nationally ranked North Carolina and William & Mary and captured a season-high six points in games against American (2G, 4A) and CAA rival George Mason (3G, 3A).
Among her CAA league rivals, Jacobs ranked sixth in the conference in assists (1.20), 10th in points per game (3.40), tops the conference list in groundballs per game (4.27) and caused turnovers per game (2.27). Nationally, she ranks 43rd in assists, third in groundballs, and sixth in caused turnovers.
Entering next season Jacobs will be tied in eighth place on the all-time Lady Monarch points leaders list with 119 points. Additionally she ranks third on the all-time assists leaders list with 43 and needs just three more goals to crack the top 10 goals leaders list.
This is Jacobs' second selection to the All-South Region Team having also been selected in 2005 as a sophomore. She is also a two-time First Team All-CAA honoree.
