NORFOLK, VA--For the first time ever, Old Dominion University is hosting "Bark in the Park" night at the Bud Metheny Baseball Complex. On April 19, the Baseball Monarchs host the Tribe of William and Mary and fans can bring their dogs to the game for the only time all season. The game will also be the final meeting in this year's Optima Health Challenge.

There will be an ODU dog collar give-a-way for the first 250 fans and an ODU bandana to the first 500 fans in attendance. The Norfolk SPCA will be on hand with adoptable pets and treats while Charles the Monarch, who made national news earlier this year, will also be in attendance and participate in photo opportunities. The Flying Jack's Stunt Dog team from Virginia Beach will be on hand and perform throughout the game.

"Our baseball team is excited to partner with such a worthwhile organization such as the Norfolk SPCA," said ODU Head Baseball Coach Chris Finwood. "As a dog owner myself, I'm glad we can play a game to benefit the SPCA and create a fun-filled environment at the Bud for our fans."

Fans can bring donations for the SPCA and receive a $2 discount off a ticket to the game. Tickets are $5. Donations accepted will be towels, bleach, cat litter and detergent, while cash donations will not be accepted.
