Monarchs Open NCAA Play With Butler

The 12th seed ODU Monarchs (24-8) open up NCAA play against fifth seed Butler on Thursday, at the HSBC Arena in Buffalo, NY. Gametime is 30 minutes after the completion of the Maryland-Davidson game which starts at 12:20. ODU and Butler have met only once, with Butler winning, 75-62 in the 1999 NIT second round. This is ODU's second NCAA appearance in the last three years and first as an atlarge selection since 1986. ODU has won 24 or more games three straight years under head coach Blaine Taylor.
