    Old Dominion looks to get back on track wednesday night when they travel to Philadelphia to take on the Hawks of St. Joseph's.

    LAST GAME:
    The Monarchs lost three games in the Puerto Rico Shootout. ODU lost to fifth ranked Stanford, 84-60. Pierre Greene led with ten points, while Clifton Jones hauled in seven rebounds. The Monarchs lost the second round game to Miami- Ohio, 64-57. Michael Williams scored 13 and Rasheed Wright had 12. In the seventh place game, ODU lost to host AU Puerto Rico,75-72. Wright led with 14 points and Heath Burris scored 13 points. Wright was named to the All-Tournament squad.

    JEFF CAPEL-HEAD COACH (Fayetteville State '77):
    Capel is in his seventh year at the helm of the Monarchs. He is 189-148 in his12th season and 110-83 at Old Dominion. Capel was the1995 CAA and NABC District IV Coach of the Year. In 1997 he was named Virginia College Coach of the Year. He won his 100th collegiate victory in the Monarchs 89-81 triple overtime win over ninth ranked Villanova in the 1995 NCAA Tournament. Capel was 16-14 in 1994 at NCA&T, losing in the NCAA first round to Arkansas. He compiled a 63-51 mark at his alma mater, Fayetteville State, taking the Broncos to the NCAA Div. II regionals in 1993. Capel was inducted into the Fayetteville State University Hall of Fame in 1999. His Monarch teams have reached the CAA finals three times, winning twice.

    THIS DAY IN ODU ATHLETIC HISTORY:
    Nov. 29, 1983, ODU defeated Delaware State in Scope, 105-82 as Keith Thomas scored 23 and Monarch Hall of Famer and former Charlotte Hornet Kenny Gattison added 19 points with ten rebounds. On Nov. 29, 1993, Kevin Larkin came up with a fieldhouse record six steals in the Monarchs win over Florida A&M.

    INJURY:
    Freshman point guard Troy Nance sprained his left ankle on Nov. 23rd in the first half against fifth ranked Stanford. He has not played since, but is a probable for tonight's game.

    FATHER - SON COMBINATION:
    Jeff Capel, III, joins his father's coaching staff after a stellar career at Duke University. Capel scored 1,601 career points and ranks third all-time at Duke and 13th all-time in the ACC with 220 career three-pointers.

    SERIES VS. ST JOSEPH'S:
    The Hawks lead, 4-2. St. Joe's won the last meeting, 67-53 in Philadelphia. The Monarchs last win over the Hawks was a 62-60 win in 1995-96, in Norfolk. ODU is 0-3 on the road vs. St. Joseph's.

    LAST A-10 TEAM PLAYED:
    ODU lost at George Washington, 91-89 last week. Pierre Greene & Rasheed Wright spearheaded the Monarch rally. Down 22 (78-56) with 4:55 left, the Monarchs cut it to two, 86-84 with 15 seconds left on a layup by Greene.

    Old Dominion travels to Dayton (coached by ODU grad Oliver Purnell) on Dec. 19.

    EXHIBITION GAMES:
    Old Dominion split their two exhibition games. Defeating Court Authority, 87-85 and losing to Global Sports, 91-82. In the Court Authority win Pierre Greene led with 23 points, while Andre McCullum hauled in nine rebounds. In the loss to Global Sports, McCullum scored 25 points and freshman Charles Dunnington grabbed 12 rebounds.

    LAST TIME ODU STARTED 1-4:
    1991-92 won first game, lost 4 straight, then beat West Virginia. That team ended up winning the CAA title.

    ABOUT OLD DOMINION:
    ODU is a state school located in Norfolk, Va. The University was founded in 1930 as the Norfolk Division of the College of William and Mary...the name Old Dominion is the nickname of the State of Virginia.

    CAA TOURNAMENT:
    This year's CAA Tournament will be March 3-5 at the Richmond Coliseum in Richmond, Va. The finals will be live on Monday night, March 5 on ESPN2.
