Monarchs Place Five Champions at the ODU Invitational

Norfolk, VA (Nov. 19, 2000) -- The Old Dominion University wrestling team won the 125, 141, 149, 165, and 174 weight classes this afternoon at the Old Dominion Invitational. Paul Jimenez (Norfolk, VA) defeated Clarence Davis of the Citadel, 4-3, to capture the 125 pound title. Blake Romano (Boiling Springs, PA), Dennis Whitby (Lanoke Harbor, NJ), Jacob Cairns (Brick, NJ) and Jeff Rusak (Reading, PA) each won their divisions for Old Dominion, who will head to the Mat Town Tournament on November 25 for their next competition.

Also faring well today was Howard University, as the Bison wrestlers captured four titles at 133, 157, 184, and heavyweight. Delaware State's Leonard Bridgeforth captured the title at 197 with two wins.
