BRACKETBUSTERS The BracketBusters concept, named because of the success of teams from these conferences in NCAA Tournament play over the past years, provides participating programs with an opportunity to play top non-conference opponents approximately three weeks prior to Selection Sunday. Each conference selected their participating teams months prior to the season and the matchups for the event were determined by ESPN in conjunction with the conferences.

BracketBusters is an example of ESPN college basketball franchise programming. Others include Rivalry Week Presented by Cisco Systems, Feast Week Presented by Lowe's, Judgment Week Presented by Cisco Systems and Championship Week Presented by 7UP.

ESPNU ESPNU was launched in March 2005. The ESPNU schedule will feature more than 400 live events (regular-season and championships) in the network's first year. Action includes a variety of top football and men's and women's basketball, mixed with baseball, softball, volleyball, lacrosse, ice hockey, wrestling and more. ESPNU also offers comprehensive studio programming, replays of ABC Sports, ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPN Regional Television games, plus specials and more. In addition, the network has a wide-ranging, long-term agreement with the NCAA calling for extensive coverage of numerous NCAA Championships, including sports from each of the three collegiate seasons.

In the 2005 Beta Research Cable Subscriber Study - Interest in Emerging/Mid-sized/VOD Networks, ESPNU was ranked sixth (tied) among men 18-34 for high interest in watching each network, out of the 40 emerging/digital networks assessed. This was the first time ESPNU was evaluated by Beta Research.

ESPNU has secured distribution agreements with DIRECTV (Channel 609), Echostar's DISH Network (Channel 148), Adelphia, Insight Communications, Mediacom, Verizon, several smaller affiliates and is close to distribution agreements with others. The 24-hour television network is the key component of the multi-media ESPNU initiative that will deliver college sports content across ESPN's family of services, such as ESPN.com, ESPN The Magazine, ESPN Mobile, ESPN Radio, ESPN Interactive, ESPN360, merchandising and more.

ESPN360 ESPN360, ESPN's customized broadband service, provides users with live games, access to highlights, inside analysis from ESPN commentators and extended SportsCenter interviews. ESPN360's exclusive coverage of the two BracketBusters games will not be available anywhere else - television or online. ESPN360 will roll in trucks and productions teams, and announcers will call the game to give the ESPN360 users a quality program they expect from ESPN.

ESPN360 is available on your computer via a high-speed data connection by logging on to www.ESPN360.com. ESPN360, ESPN's multi-dimensional broadband service, highlights the value of a high-speed connection by combining the best elements of television and the Internet for the computer user. ESPN360 has agreements in place with Adelphia, Beld, Bend, Charter, Frontier, Grande, Iowa Network Services, Mid-Hudson, MediaCom, Spencer, Municipal Utilities, Starstream Communications, Sus-com, US Cable and Verizon.
