NORFOLK, VA -- Old Dominion senior midfielder Crystal Carper (Fredericksburg, VA) was named the Colonial Athletic Association Field Hockey Player of the Week for the week ending September 2nd.
Carper earns the honor after sending her lone shot of last Saturday's game against Maryland sailing past the netminder for the game-winning goal in ODU's 2-1 victory over the Terrapins. Carper, who logged her first goal of the season, helped snap the Lady Monarch's two-game losing streak and gave Old Dominion not only its first win of the season, but is first win at home on Foreman Field in the new year. The victory also ended the Terrapins, ranked #2 at the time by HockeyPoint!, three-game winning streak and gave Maryland its first loss of the 2001 season.
The Old Dominion field hockey team will return to action this weekend with the final two games of a four-game homestand. The Lady Monarchs will host Wake Forest on Saturday, September 8th at 1:00 p.m. and Boston University on Sunday, September 9th at 1:30 p.m.
