NORFOLK, Va. - Georgia State scored three second half goals, including two by Jewel Evans, to take a 4-2 win over Old Dominion University women's soccer Sunday afternoon at the ODU Soccer Stadium.
Georgia State (9-3-1, 3-1) got on the board first in the 10th minute, when Evans sent a cross pass from the right side into the middle, where Sarah Bennett gathered and lifted into the top right of the goal.
ODU (2-7-1, 0-4) had an opportunity to tie the game in the 54th minute, but Kelly Evans' shot was stopped by Kellianne Collins. Ashlee Coutu followed the shot but her attempt was blocked by a GSU defender.
The Panthers added to the lead in the 69th minute when Evans was fouled in the box, GSU was awarded a penalty kick that Bennett knocked home for the 2-0 lead.
Old Dominion battled back, just four minutes later making it a one goal game on Meghan Cozens' first goal of the season. After a scrum in the box, the Panthers attempted to clear the ball out, but Cozens intercepted the clear and took a shot from 13 yards out past the GSU goalkeeper.
Georgia State went back on the attack, with Evans scoring two goals and Stephanie Cuccia assisting on both goals to give GSU a two goal lead at 4-1.
