Results From Hampton Roads Collegiate Invitational Of Newport News

Newport News, Va. - Old Dominion's Jon Antle (Va. Beach, Va.) went 1-1 before falling to eventual Flight D bracket winner and teamed with Dominic Manilla (Greenwood, Va.) to also go 1-1 before bowing out to the Flight D doubles winners at the Hampton Roads Collegiate Invitational held at Huntington Park and Center Court Racket Club this weekend in Newport News.
Antle, a junior, reached the Round of 16 in the Flight D singles bracket. He opened play with a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Christopher Newport's Matt Vaughn in the Round of 32 before falling to bracket winner Eric Conrad of Georgetown, 6-1, 6-0, in the Round of 16.
Antle, along with classmate Manilla, also reached the Round of 16 in the Flight D doubles bracket. The Monarch duo downed CAA rivals Rob Santos and Eric Vogel of George Mason, 6-1, in the Round of 32 before dropping their Round of 16 match by the same score to eventual winners of the bracket, Djan Gusmao and Mehrban Iranshad of UMBC.
Manilla also recorded a 1-1 record during tournament play. After falling in the main draw of the Flight C bracket, Manilla rebounded with a 9-8 (0) win over Carlin Campbell from James Madison. Play in the consolation bracket was halted after Manilla's quarterfinal victory.
The Monarch men's tennis team will return to action this week at the ITA Region II Tennis Championship held on the campus of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C.
