Harris and Hospodar Earn All-State Honors

NORFOLK, VA. -- Junior Geoffrey Harris (Reading, England) and senior Michael Hospodar (Ontario, Canada) were named to the Virginia State Golf Association All-State squad as selected by the Virginia Division I golf coaches. Harris was named to the first team and Hospodar to the second team.
Harris had four second place finishes and lost one tournament in a sudden-death playoff.He finished tenth or better in nine of the 12 tournaments he competed in. Harris ranked as high as ninth in the South Region, and his fall 70.0 stroke average ranked him second in the nation. The All-CAA performer was selected by the Golf Coaches Association of America to compete in the 2002 Palmer Cup for Great Britan and Ireland against the top eight collegiate golfers from the USA. The tournament will be July 11 and 12 at the Doonberg Golf Club in County Clare, Ireland. Harris' stroke average was 71.6 for the year.
Michael Hospodar was second on the team in stroke average at 73.4. The second team All-CAA performer took third at Chattanooga's tournament and 12th at the CAA Championships.
