Richmond, Va. (Sept. 5) - Old Dominion senior midfielder Marina DiGiacomo (Mendoza, Argentina) was named the Colonial Athletic Association's first field hockey Player of the Week for the 2000 season, as announced Sept. 5 by the CAA office.

DiGiacomo, a 2000 Honda Award hopeful, earned the honor after leading her team to a 2-1 record over the first two weeks of the season. Over the three game period, she netted five goals and assisted on four more.

The team's leading scorer, DiGiacomo was responsible for three of four Lady Monarch goals in a 5-4 double-overtime loss to defending national champion Maryland, including the game-tying goal with 37 seconds left in regulation.

Also this past week, DiGiacomo collected a goal and two assists against Penn State and a goal and an assist against New Hampshire.
