NORFOLK, VA -- The defending national champion Old Dominion field hockey team upended #19 Princeton, 8-2, in come-from-behind fashion Sunday afternoon at Foreman Field. The #7 Lady Monarchs end the regular season at 14-6 overall (5-0 CAA) while the Tigers fall to 8-6 overall (4-1 Ivy League).

Finding themselves down 2-0 after just four minutes of play, the Lady Monarchs tied the game at two just before halftime intermission. Old Dominion used a six-goal scoring punch in the second to go ahead and put the game away.

Junior Marina DiGiacomo (Mendoza, Argentina) scored the eventual game winner, connecting on a penalty stroke at the 32:01 mark in the second half to give Old Dominion a 3-2 lead. Sophomore Laura Steadman (Virginia Beach, Va.) led the scoring surge with a hat trick on the afternoon.

Old Dominion will await CAA Tournament pairings to come out this week. The top seed in the tournament, the Lady Monarchs will have a first round bye, playing their first game on Saturday (1:30 or 3 pm).
