NORFOLK - Old Dominion University athletics, in partnership with Cox Communications, will produce and broadcast three Monarch football games this season, as announced today by ODU director of athletics Dr. Wood Selig.

The broadcasts include a tape delay of the Monarchs home game with Hampton University on Sept. 17, the Monarchs home game with UMass on Oct. 1 and ODU's road game at William and Mary on Nov. 12. Broadcast locally on Cox 11 in Hampton Roads, the games will also be aired in the Cox cable market in Northern Virginia and Roanoke, and carried on TCN(The Comcast Network). The Oct. 1 game kick-off time has been moved from 6 to 7 p.m. to accommodate the television schedule.

"We are very excited to partner with Cox Communications to offer their subscribers and our fans live broadcasts of our games. We are also appreciative of the support from our friends at The Comcast Network, who will be airing our Cox produced games and helping us expose the ODU brand throughout the east coast," says Selig.

A total of six Old Dominion football games will be aired this season, including three produced by The Comcast Network and the Colonial Athletic Association. The Monarchs kick off the season this Saturday against Campbell and will be competing in their first season as a full member of the CAA.

"We are proud to continue our support of ODU football and to produce and air quality games for fans. Last year's partnership with ODU scored high marks with viewers," says Gary McCollum, Sr. Vice President and General Manager, Cox Virginia. "Cox 11 produced magnificent sports broadcasts that allowed thousands of fans across the state to experience Monarch football."

John Castleberry will provide the play by play on the three games produced by Cox. Virginia Sports Hall of Famer and local NFL great William Fuller will serve as the color analyst on the Hampton and UMass games, while John Bunting, former head coach at the University of North Carolina, will join Castleberry for the William and Mary broadcast.

Additionally, ODU and Cox will launch an On Demand channel soon for Cox subscribers in Hampton Roads that will include replays of Monarch games from multiple sports and highlight packages.

All Monarch games will also be aired on radio by ESPN 94.1 FM, featuring Ted Alexander on play by play, and Andy Mashaw on color, while Demetrius Means provides sideline commentary at home and Rick Kiefner hosts the pre-game show for all home games, starting one hour prior to kick-off.
