NORFOLK, VA-With the Colonial Athletic Association soccer championships just around the corner, the Old Dominion men's and women's soccer teams will be looking to close out their seasons in style starting this weekend.
The Lady Monarchs (3-8-2/ 1-2-1 CAA) will host a pair of first-time adversaries this weekend, when they play St. Francis and Sacred Heart. The women will also play William & Mary on Tuesday, October 30th.
Last weekend the Lady Monarchs tied American University and dropped a heartbreaker to CAA foe George Mason. Indicative of the season, the ODU women have dropped five contests by one goal this year and have played in four overtime games.
The Monarchs (7-5-1/ 2-0-1 CAA) will try to bounce back from a hard-fought loss at #6 North Carolina when they host #25 James Madison on Saturday night. The Dukes were the only conference team to defeat the Monarchs in the regular season last year and are pushing for one of the top seeds in the conference tournament again in 2001. The last time JMU visited Norfolk, in 1999, the Monarchs defeated them 1-0.
