Five ODU Wrestlers Nationally Ranked

NORFOLK, Va. - Five wrestling Monarchs are ranked this week by multiple publications, including junior James Nicholson who is ranked as high as No. 4 nationally in his weight class. As a team the Monarchs rank as high as No. 21.

After a third-place finish at the Las Vegas Invitational, Nicholson reached his highest ranking of the year. He was listed as No. 4 according to D1 College Wrestling and No. 5 by both Intermat and WIN Magazine.

Senior's Jesse Strawn and Chris Brown were also ranked in the Top 10 accoring to DI College Wrestling. Brown was No. 7 at 165-pounds and Strawn ranked No. 10 at 197-pounds.

Kyle Hutter placed No. 12 by WIN Magazine at 133-pounds and sophomore Joe Budi cracked the rankings at 184-pounds.

As a team Old Dominion is ranked No. 21 by DI College Wrestling and No. 22 in the NWCA/USA Today Coaches Poll.

Old Dominion returns to action after Christmas at the Southern Scuffle. The two-day event will take place in Greesboro, N.C. starting on December 29.
